Ethics & Compliance Statement

Wrk Receipts is committed to safeguarding employee autonomy, privacy, and access to responsible workplace support. Our partnership with Wrk Legal strengthens that mission while preserving strict ethical, legal, and professional boundaries. Wrk Receipts remains a documentation tool first. Users choose how, when, and if they engage with legal services, including those provided by Wrk Legal.

This Ethics & Compliance Statement outlines the safeguards we maintain to ensure transparency, user control, and compliance across jurisdictions.

1. Platform Purpose & Independence

Wrk Receipts is a digital documentation platform that helps employees log workplace experiences and understand their options.

Users may choose to explore legal services through Wrk Legal. All attorneys available on the platform are:

  • Wrk Legal attorneys, or

  • Attorneys who have entered into a co-counsel agreement with Wrk Legal

Wrk Receipts does not operate as a lawyer referral service and does not recommend, rank, or assign specific legal counsel.

Users remain fully free to seek and engage attorneys of their choice outside the platform.

2. User-Driven Attorney Connections

To comply with ethical rules governing attorney solicitation:

  • Attorneys cannot view, identify, or contact users unless the user explicitly opts to connect.

  • The user must actively approve a legal contact request before any communication begins.

  • There is no unsolicited outreach, no pop-up solicitation, and no attorney-initiated messaging.

These protections uphold ABA Rule 7.3 and relevant state solicitation rules.

3. Privacy and Anonymity Protections

Wrk Receipts protects user identity unless and until the user voluntarily chooses to disclose it.

  • Attorneys—including those from Wrk Legal—see only anonymized summaries and user-entered logs.

  • No names, emails, employer information, or identifying details are visible to any attorney without explicit user permission.

  • Users decide what to share, with whom, and at what stage of the process.

Identity is never revealed automatically or as part of default system behavior.

4. Informational Guidance When Users Log Workplace Events

When users log workplace events, Wrk Receipts may display general educational guidance intended to help them understand when certain types of support may be useful. This guidance may include:

  • When speaking with a workplace attorney might be beneficial

  • Links to public resources, including State Bar Association directories

  • The option to book a consultation with Wrk Legal, if the user chooses

Important Safeguards

  • Educational prompts are not legal advice.

  • Wrk Receipts does not determine whether a user has a legal claim.

  • Guidance does not assess the legal merits of the user’s situation.

  • Wrk Receipts does not match or assign users to lawyers.

Required Disclaimer

Educational prompts are not legal advice. Wrk Receipts does not endorse or recommend any specific attorney or law firm. Users are free to seek any attorney they choose, whether through Wrk Legal, a State Bar directory, or another avenue.

5. No Matching, No Recommendations, No Paid Prioritization

Wrk Receipts does not:

  • Algorithmically match users with attorneys

  • Rank attorney profiles by payment or placement

  • Recommend one attorney over another

Users independently decide whether to speak with Wrk Legal, explore co-counsel attorneys, or consult outside counsel.

6. Consent Logging & Audit Trail

Wrk Receipts maintains a secure, auditable record of every legal interaction, including:

  • User decisions to explore legal support

  • User consent to connect

  • Chat initiation timestamps

This ensures clarity and accountability around who initiated contact and when.

7. Ethical Alignment Across Jurisdictions

Wrk Receipts and Wrk Legal jointly review and align with:

  • ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct

  • State-specific rules on attorney advertising and solicitation

  • Lawyer referral service regulations

  • Unauthorized practice of law (UPL) boundaries

  • Data privacy and consumer protection requirements

We welcome collaboration with ethics counsel, regulators, and partner attorneys to ensure our approach remains user-centered, transparent, and compliant.
